we look to our past,
photographs of happier times,
when feelings stood still
when at the time all we wanted was more.
curiosity kicks in.
our spirits embark on the journey.
tangled and trusted
we entwine our bodies into the unknown,
wanting to feel something more then what we are used to,
begging to feel the gold rush through our veins
and explode into the sky like a thousand stars wanting to be the one to guide you
home.
but no longer.
we are now, cold and gray,
stepping back and fourth across grass
lost in the wilderness
looking for that piece you once had
we belong to a shredded piece of paper
scribbled in black with a map to get home.
this is no longer home.
we no longer make sense.
we’re bits of newspaper falling from the sky.
yesterday’s excitement, gone to sleep for the day.
